Galvanized Roofing for Sydney Homes

Wednesday, April 20, 2011
Chemical bonding is probably one of the most boring subjects at school, but I have to thank it because it paved way for the making of one of the most innovative roof types in the roof market today. Galvanization is the process wherein a certain metal, particularly made of steel, is combined and added with another metal layer. In the roofing world, the result of this fusion is galvanized metal roofing. Galvanized metal roofs consist of a layer of protective zinc combined with a sheet of steel metals like iron and aluminum. This combination is done in order to prevent rusting and corrosion which makes this roof very efficient for roofing uses.

For residents living along the Sydney area, using galvanized metal roof in their house is very much suggested. Why? Simply because the process that these roofs have undergone made them more reliable in giving home owners protection from problems associated with Sydney’s extreme weather conditions. Indeed, galvanized metal roof is very durable and sturdy but it does not end there. This kind of roof is usually lightweight so major foundation is not a must, although a strong foundation is always better. It is heat and fire resistant as well. The materials for this roof are not combustible and they also reflect away heat which gives the house less hot atmosphere. Once galvanized metal roof is properly installed on your house, you will not need to spend much for maintenance expenses because it can stand erected and fully functioning even with just minimal maintenance.

If you are having problems on choosing the perfect roof for your house, add galvanized metal roof to your choices. It is one of the most durable, flexible and up-to-date roof types which give modern houses an ingenious touch.

Basic Types of Roof: Which Is The Most Suitable For You?

Tuesday, March 01, 2011
The roofing industry provides different roof types which suit different lifestyles, here is a list of different roof types to help you distinguish which is which.

One of the most common roof types is the gable roof. It has a triangular shape with two ends. Because of its pitch, it provides good ventilation and it is appropriate for rainy or snowy places.
Another general type of roof is the hip or hipped roof. All of a hip roof’s four sides slope down to the wall. It is proper for places with shifty weather condition because it protects the walls from both sun and rain.

Flat roofs have very minimal slope, if not completely horizontal. Its style is very modern-looking but this type of roof is not advisable in places where rain and snowfall is almost always present. Moreover, it is not that durable like the others and requires high maintenance.

Mansard roof has double slopes – the lower slope being the steeper one. It has an angled style which offers spacious area that is frequently used in buildings with attics. It can withstand some rain but not snow.

Saltbox roof shares some similarities with a gable roof but the difference is that it has unsymmetrical sides. One of the sides is steeper than the other.

Shed roof usually has one consistent slope, which allows water and snow to flow down from the roof and is fitting in places like Sydney.

Gambrel roof is a two-sided roof which is similar to a mansard roof in that it has two different pitches and the lower slope is shallower. These are most commonly used in farms and barns.

These are just some of the basic roof types. There is still a broad variety out there but these are the more common ones, and usually, other roof types are just derived from these. For more information about this topic, you can call us at 94777961.
