Generally speaking at a minimum even to clean out the leaves from the gutters and eaves can help the maintenance of the roof. The pictures around tell the story. I know I would prefer to be paying a roofer a small sum once a year than to have to fork out a huge amount in having a whole re-roof done. This neglect brought the whole roof crashing down.

Clay Roof: Naturally Beautiful

Wednesday, April 27, 2011
Would you like your house to appear traditional? Do you prefer the beauty of old generation building art more than the contemporary design? Then, clay roof tiles might be the best roofing choice for you. Equipped with high-quality performance and visually-appealing style, clay roofs can satisfy the diverse requirements in the modern architecture industry.

Although the new era has come, some home owners still prefer using clay as their roof material rather than the concrete ones. Well, they cannot be blamed because a clay roof also has its fair share of benefits for houses and other buildings. Production of this roof type dates back to your ancestors’ generation and it has stood the test of time. That being said, a clay roof is very durable, strong and has a long-span of life, provided that it is properly take care of. There is also no doubt about its ability to cope with the natural climatic conditions of Southern Australia like rainstorms, hail, snow, and the sun’s extreme heat. There is a variety of clay roof profiles to choose from. It is very flexible and can fit different building styles from medieval times to futuristic designs. Aside from its obviously fine-looking appearance, it is also noted as an eco-friendly roof.  Because of its natural elements, it does not bring harm to the environment unlike other roofing materials.

If you are willing to spend some cash for both roof materials and the installation labor costs, then go ahead and use clay roof tiles. It will give your home a superior quality inside and out.

Galvanized Roofing for Sydney Homes

Wednesday, April 20, 2011
Chemical bonding is probably one of the most boring subjects at school, but I have to thank it because it paved way for the making of one of the most innovative roof types in the roof market today. Galvanization is the process wherein a certain metal, particularly made of steel, is combined and added with another metal layer. In the roofing world, the result of this fusion is galvanized metal roofing. Galvanized metal roofs consist of a layer of protective zinc combined with a sheet of steel metals like iron and aluminum. This combination is done in order to prevent rusting and corrosion which makes this roof very efficient for roofing uses.

For residents living along the Sydney area, using galvanized metal roof in their house is very much suggested. Why? Simply because the process that these roofs have undergone made them more reliable in giving home owners protection from problems associated with Sydney’s extreme weather conditions. Indeed, galvanized metal roof is very durable and sturdy but it does not end there. This kind of roof is usually lightweight so major foundation is not a must, although a strong foundation is always better. It is heat and fire resistant as well. The materials for this roof are not combustible and they also reflect away heat which gives the house less hot atmosphere. Once galvanized metal roof is properly installed on your house, you will not need to spend much for maintenance expenses because it can stand erected and fully functioning even with just minimal maintenance.

If you are having problems on choosing the perfect roof for your house, add galvanized metal roof to your choices. It is one of the most durable, flexible and up-to-date roof types which give modern houses an ingenious touch.

Tale Of The Wood Shingles

Saturday, April 09, 2011
Wood shingles started out in the Wild, Wild West, which today is known, as you’ve guessed it: North America. But why would an old and rickety looking roof start in such an innovative and rich country such as the USA? Simple. Availability. Materials in the North American region to make wood shingles are enough to make a bridge from Florida to South America. Plus, it’s cheap and easy to make, so why not?

What makes these different from other shingles? One thing is how it looks. If you want that classic yet beautiful look in your house, then wood shingles are for you. As the name implies it’s wood and it looks like wood. Its appearance is that of an asphalt shingles, but of course, more brown and way smoother. Aside from its natural color, you are free to paint it to whatever color you desire. It gives an aesthetic look that no other roofs can.

For maintenance and durability, it’s simply marvelous. It’s lightweight, easy to install, widely common, but horribly tough to maintain. Continuous rainfall will cause its foundation to rot, thus exposing the nail and ruining the paint inside the foundation. Because of this, it isn’t recommended for areas that have frequent rainfall – meaning, wood shingles type of roofing is a major no, no for Sydney households.. Nonetheless, it is a good roofing material and you can take full advantage of this inexpensive, yet orthodox type of roofing.

Sydney Homes Need Professional Roof Protection

Thursday, February 17, 2011
Sydney is well-known for its complicated climate – from warm summers to mild winters. Rainfall is spread all through the year. From time to time, there are also cases of windstorm and hailstorm. Your main protection from this undesirable shift in weather is none other than your own house, but you can never be fully safe without a house with proper roofing.

You must always keep in mind that roofing is judged not by how much beauty it can give a house but instead, how much protection the roof and roof materials can provide. There are a lot of things that need to be considered in choosing the right roofing. One must concern himself about the correct building requirements, roof layout, roof materials, durability and lifespan, cost, ease of installation, repair and maintenance. One small mistake in roofing can result to big damages. Do not put your luck on the line. Before starting the construction of any roof, always consult a roofing professional.

North Shore Leaky Roofs

Wednesday, February 16, 2011
Adequate rainfall is experienced throughout the year in places like the North Shore because of its subtropical climate. One of the most common problems of households during rainy days, especially when occasional cloud bursts come about, is a leaking roof. There are many causes of roof leaks such as cracks because of defective roofing, poor roof materials, overflow of water because of clogged gutters, or the roof is just plain old and needs replacement.

Some roof leaks are simple in nature and may be caused by minor defects on the roofing. There are also instances where the problem can be more complex than it seems and further assistance is required. Be it simple or complex, it’s always important to take actions to resolve the problem as soon as possible in order to prevent bigger damages. When you notice the roof leaking, immediately check for areas that it may be coming from. Check the flashings, drains, roof perimeters, particularly at joints, or if it is really hard to find, seek help. Once the source of leak is located, you can personally do some repairs, or if it looks complicated, contact a professional. Sometimes, you may think that leaks appear when in fact, the roof is not really leaking. This is because of condensation of warm air inside the building and cold moisture outside.

Leaky or not, it’s still advisable to have your roof inspected every now and then, especially if rainfall is getting more frequent. Call us Now for advice or a quote on 94777961.
